A lot of people filing a disability claim have heard that they need an attorney to represent them in their claim for disability benefits. This is FALSE! A majority of attorneys practice several types of law in their firm. This means an attorney might only “dabble” in federal disability law, yet advertise to be a “Social Security disability attorney” or “specialist”.
How do you know if an attorney does not specialize in disability law? It’s simple, Look at an advertisement for an attorney or firm. If the advertisement lists other types of cases they work on (i.e. workers compensation, accident, and injury, etc.), they do NOT specialize in Disability Law. You will not receive the personal attention and priority for your disability claim.
The large law firms you see advertised on TV and local law firms that “dabble” in Social Security Disability claims do not have the time to develop a personal client/representative relationship. Because there are usually multiple attorneys in practice, you most likely will not speak to your representative, or know who they are, until you meet them the day of your hearing.
Why hire Tammy Wilson as your representative?
Tammy practices only in Social security disability law. She has 15+ years’ experience processing disability claims for the Social Security administration. She has been serving as a claims representative for clients in Eastern Kentucky for eight years. Tammy passed a rigorous Social Security law exam and is allowed to practice in Social Security courts as an equivalent of an attorney.
Tammy was appointed as a non-attorney representative eligible for direct payment (EDPNA) by the Social Security Administration. A designation very few non-attorneys have attained. She has also met all education, training and experience requirements pursuant to the Social Security Professional Representation Act (H.R. 4532).
Statistics show that representatives who specialize in Disability have a higher percentage of approvals for their clients.
